Before selling, trading or transferring ownership of a used vehicle, or even before re-registering it after some time off the road, a vehicle must first undergo a roadworthy inspection conducted by a VicRoads licensed vehicle tester, to ensure that it can meet the rigours of Victoria’s roads.
As a VicRoads licensed vehicle tester we can conduct roadworthy inspections on all makes and models of light vehicles, and certify a vehicle as roadworthy. We can also conduct pre-purchase inspections, to ensure that you get your money’s worth when buying your next used car.
When selling your vehicle, a Registration Transfer form is required. It can be found on the VicRoads website or via this link: Registration Transfer Form
Your brakes are one of your vehicle’s most important safety features, often making the difference between a simple sudden stop and a pricey trip to the smash repairer. Your brakes also suffer the most wear and tear of any area in your vehicle, particularly in stop-start urban environments, and need regular checking.
We offer a range of brake services for all makes and models of vehicles, including replacement and restoration of brake pads, discs and drums, as well as brake disc restorations to extend the life of your existing parts, all to ensure you can bring your vehicle to a stop when you need to.

Trouble shifting or staying in gear, or strange noises and smells from underneath the car, are all symptoms of issues in your transmission. Over time problems with your transmission can take a serious toll on your vehicle’s performance, potentially even leading to a breakdown.
We provide a range of services for your vehicle’s drivetrain, from clutch repairs to manual and automatic transmission servicing. We also offer servicing for your vehicle’s differential, for optimal stability and control around corners.
Keeping your engine at a safe operating temperature is vital to maintaining a healthy vehicle. In contrast an overheating engine can spell disaster for your vehicle, causing all manner of problems in your vehicle and potentially leading to a breakdown and costly engine repairs. If you think your vehicle might be overheating, the best thing to do is either pull over immediately or drive very carefully to your nearest workshop for an inspection of your cooling system.
We’ll provide a host of services to your cooling system, from leak checks to replacement of faulty hosing, seals, radiator units, heater units and thermostats.
Particularly in Australia’s summer months, having an air conditioning system ready to keep you and your passengers cool on the road is vital to driver and passenger comfort. Often your aircon can go neglected, however, and most of the damage is caused not by wear and tear but by disuse through the cooler months, causing cracks and leaks in your system’s hosing.
At Hallam Road Automotive we’ll get your aircon back in working order, from replacing cracked and leaking hosing to repairing air conditioning units and compressors. We’ll also re-gas your system with the refrigerants it needs to keep your vehicle cool all summer long.
